Welcome!
Discover with me how I create mixed media with both fabric and paper.
In this class I will show you how I create, layer, and assemble what I call Strips and Fragments from paper and fabric. I will go over techniques I use for hand painting and dying fabric. We will be stamping with both rubber and foam stamps. I'll show you what inks and paints I use.
We will also discuss protecting fragile papers to use in a collage. Why make them? How I choose, and why I use the materials that I do. I will talk about adhesives and machine versus hand stitching. I will give no sew options as well.
Showcase Your Art
Use Strips and Fragments to create simple wallhangings or art quilts. I will give measurements for creating a simple fabric background.
You can make many things with your unique Snippet Strips and Fragments.
Altered Book
Use your Strips and Fragments to create my favorite way to alter a book or to create a fabric book. We will use paper and fabric and make a book in class.
It's All About the Layers
Fragments can be created in any size. I will show you how I make and use them for many of my projects. Combine embroidery, paper, and fabric to create mixed media layers
Home Dec
I use my strips and fragments to decorate everyday items, like my paper clip holder on my desk.
Great Gifts
Give the artist or crafter in your life a little present. The snippet rolls make great gifts! They can use them to create a postcard or ATC (Artist Trading Card)
Example Curriculum
Lessons are prerecorded for you to work through at your own pace and schedule. I'll be available to answer questions and provide suggestions for your work right in the classroom for each lesson.
